UT Studio Series: Dropping Some Joy

Heard anything about Greece lately? The big pickle they’re in has invited opinions from everyone, yet rarely do you see a compassionate heart. UT junior, Jamie Kerr has decided to look at this problem through spiritual eyes. Her prayer for the country of Athens has led her to create art inspired and used for the funding of her missions there…and you thought this was just a trippy painting. This work, “Transcend Peace over your land” (oil on paper) is my top pick because it reminds one of the fullness of life. Jamie’s only intentional composition move was the canary yellow. From there she explores different ways of breaking up that color with the introduction of others—which no doubt strikes your happy chord. The work was composed vertically, with the tip of her brush moving with her subconscious. For more of her work and to buy this fabulous piece check her out at 7:00pm tonight at Sunrise Community Church in Austin. How wonderful it is to have the love of nations and love of the arts in tandem!
