A sustainable project that does more than put a plaque on the building—sign me up! Chantel Pham, a 4th year student in the School of Architecture, is using her knowledge of design and sustainability to give hope.
After the loss of her brother, Peter, Chantel and her family have rebuilt his dream of providing health care for disabled and abandoned children in Vietnam through the creation of a non-profit called Peter’s Clinic. This non-profit is a three-pronged initiative that would provide a pharmacy, a family-sized clinic, and a home to the children.
Because of the politics and dynamics in Vietnam, what is even more remarkable about this project is its goal to be completely off-the-grid. Because of government corruption, Peter's Clinic plans to be 100% self-sufficient for all water, electricity and energy needs. How will she do this? Well it's no easy task, especially with the cost of $25/sq. foot.
The goal is to raise $1 million in 5 years. Go to petersclinic.org to give via PayPal or buy a t-shirt. Don’t think that your contribution is too small, to them it is the realization of a dream and a hope for the future.
